May 20 is the Memorial Day of the victims slaughtered by the Khmer Rouge regime. This is a ceremony at the temple in Svay Rieng province. Families of victims, community leaders, monks and others attend. When looking inside the fence, soil is packed imitating the tomb of the victim. This symbolic monument was created by the idea of the layperson of the temple. Today, the governor of the Svay Rieng province participates and expresses condolences to the victims. Many military officials and administrative officials are also involved. Not only the elements of memorial but also the political meaning is a strong ceremony.
